Mobb Deep – Back At You

By admin. Posted in Videos | No Comments »

1996 “Sunset Park Soundtrack” Mobb Deep hip hop duo from Queens, New York, that consists of Havoc and Prodigy. The duo is “one of the most critically acclaimed hard-core East Coast hip-hop groups. Havoc and Prodigy started rhyming in 1986 when they met at the High School of Art and Design in New York City. Havoc took the role of producer and secondary MC, while Prodigy assumed the position of primary MC. Originally dubbing themselves the Poetical Profits, the duo later changed its name to Mobb Deep in order to “reflect their reputation on the streets.” When Havoc and Prodigy were 17, they released their debut album as Mobb Deep, called Juvenile Hell, which was led by the single “Peer Pressure.” The album sold poorly and was met with harsh reviews that dismissed the duo as just another hardcore group with little to distinguish it from the rest of the hip-hop world, despite production by DJ Premier and Large Professor. However, a few songs from Juvenile Hell did gain some recognition, such as “Hit It from the Back,” “Locked in Spofford,” and “Me and My Crew.” Also in 1993, Havoc had a guest appearance on the critically acclaimed Black Moon album Enta Da Stage, on a song called “U Da Man.” The group saw its first major success with their second album, The Infamous, released in 1995. Mobb Deep catapulted to the top of the hardcore hip-hop scene through Havoc and Prodigy’s straightforward narration of street life. Mobb Deep portrayed the struggles of living in New York City’s

Album “The Diary” 1994 Scarface was born Bradley Jordan on November 9, 1970. He is originally from the South Acres neighborhood of Houston, Texas. He was an early member of the Southern rap group The Geto Boys and still maintains ties with them, though he has been a solo artist since 1991. Even if he has never scored any national hits or stormed up the Billboard charts with any of his numerous albums throughout the ’90s, no one could question his clout throughout the South. He has managed to define what it meant to be a Southern thug rapper years before anyone even coined the term Dirty South. This became glaringly evident in the late ’90s when a massive wave of young MCs arose from Houston, New Orleans, and Memphis emulating his style of hard-boiled, ghetto-bred, straight-up hardcore rapping. Scarface (at the time recording under the alias of Akshen) began his rap career first as a solo artist in his native Houston during the mid-’80s for James Smith’s then fledging Rap-a-Lot label. Smith was trying to launch a group he tagged the Geto Boys, and he eventually asked Akshen to join the group in the late ’80s. Smith was trying to launch a group he tagged the Geto Boys, and he eventually asked Akshen to join the group in the late ’80s. The Geto Boys’ debut album — Grip It! On That Other Level (1990), later repackaged and re-released that same year simply as The Geto Boys — shocked many with its vivid depictions of violence and its overall extreme nature. This album

Organized Konfusion – Stress

By admin. Posted in Videos | No Comments »

Album “The Extinction Agenda” 1994 Group members Prince Po (poetry) and Pharoahe Monch began their career under the name Simply II Positive MCs in 1987. Originally, Po was the rapper and Pharoahe was a beatboxer, but after realizing his rhyming skill, Monch joined Po as MC. The duo caught the attention of prominent Hip Hop producer Paul C, who produced a demo for the group in the late 1980s. Paul was murdered in 1989, but the duo went on and signed a record deal with Hollywood BASIC. In 1991, the group released its critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, Organized Konfusion. The album was produced entirely by the duo, and featured only one guest appearance, provided by the group’s childhood friend, future DITC member OC, who appeared on the single “Fudge Pudge”. The album’s single, “Walk Into The Sun”, became a minor hit for the group, peaking at #15 on the Hot Rap Singles chart. The album itself didn’t manage to make any Billboard chart, despite high praise from numerous sources, including Allmusic, which granted the album a perfect 5 star rating, with reviewer Stanton Swihart stating that it is “arguably the underground hip-hop album of the 1990s.” The duo returned in 1994 with their second album Stress: The Extinction Agenda. This album was once more low on guests, featuring another appearance by OC, and A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip, who both appeared on the song “Let’s Organize”. The album’s lead single “Stress” charted on the Hot Rap Singles chart, but the most

From their 12” single “The Militia” released in 1998 The most influential MC-and-DJ tandem of the 1990s, Gang Starr set new standards for East Coast rap with a pair of early-’90s touchstones, Step in the Arena (1991) and Daily Operation (1992), whose appeal has only grown over the decades. Beginning with these classic releases, both listeners and critics heaped mounds of praise upon Guru and DJ Premier — the former because of his socially conscious lyrics and no-nonsense stance, the latter because of his DJ-style beat-making and jazzy sound. Following Step in the Arena and Daily Operation, Premier became one of New York’s most demanded producers, crafting hits for the city’s finest MCs, including the Notorious BIG, Nas, Jay-Z, and KRS-One. Guru likewise collaborated with plenty of well-known artists — Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, N’Dea Davenport — on his solo debut, Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1 (1993), and its series of follow-ups. Following Hard to Earn (1994) — the duo’s fourth Gang Starr collaboration overall — Guru and Premier began focusing primarily on their solo projects, reuniting infrequently — too infrequently, many fans felt — for albums such as Moment of Truth (1998) and The Ownerz (2003). During this period of solo activity, Gang Starr became increasingly recognized as a touchstone, one that critics and hip-hop purists frequently cited as a standard-bearer for streetwise, socially conscious East Coast rap.
